Michael made history as the first-ever Special Assistant to the President and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer for the White House, appointed by the President of the United States. Prior to this, he served as the Chief People Officer and Head of Diversity & Inclusion for the Biden for President 2020 Campaign, leading groundbreaking initiatives that established the campaign as the most diverse General Election Presidential staff in U.S. history.

With a background in professional sports, Michael held key roles in labor relations and operations for the National Football League (NFL), where he also championed inclusion efforts as co-chair of the NFL Diversity Council and Black Engagement Network. He began his career as the Assistant to the Head Coach for the Chicago Bears and also worked in media relations for the Miami Dolphins. He has also served in leadership roles in multiple faith-based organizations & communities.

A Chicago native, Michael has been recognized for his outstanding contributions, awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Doctor of Humane Letters) in 2022 and named to the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. Power 50 Under 40 List in 2023, affirming his continued impact and leadership pioneering historic moments and movements across multiple fields.​
